2026 Spring Shop Hop Mystery Quilt

Spring in Central Oregon always brings a sense of renewal with fresh colors, longer days, and for our quilting community, along, with one of the most anticipated events of the year: the Spring Central Oregon Shop Hop Mystery Quilt Event. Now that the weekend has wrapped, it’s the perfect time to reflect on what made this year’s Shop Hop such a memorable experience.

A Weekend of Creativity and Connection

Over two vibrant days, quilters from across the region (and beyond) traveled shop to shop, creating their own path through Central Oregon’s quilting landscape. Each stop offered something unique—from beautiful fabric selections to inspiring displays and welcoming spaces that encouraged creativity and conversation.

At every location, guests were greeted with enthusiasm, helpful guidance, and of course, their exclusive fat eighths of featured fabric—a detail that continues to make this event both interactive and collectible. Moving from one shop to the next, reconnecting with familiar faces and meeting new ones, is truly what defines the spirit of the Shop Hop.

The Mystery Quilt: Designed to Inspire

At the heart of this year’s event was the highly anticipated Mystery Quilt, thoughtfully designed by Karen Walker of Laugh Yourself Into Stitches.

Karen Walker is widely appreciated in the quilting community for her approachable, engaging designs that balance creativity with clear, achievable construction. Through her work with Laugh Yourself Into Stitches, she has built a reputation for patterns that are not only visually striking but also enjoyable to piece—whether you’re a confident beginner or an experienced quilter looking for something fresh.

This year’s Mystery Quilt was no exception. Designed specifically for the Central Oregon Shop Hop, the pattern offered a piece of discovery at every stop. As participants collected each piece, the design gradually came to life – building anticipation with every reveal. The structure of the pattern encouraged creativity, allowing quilters to see how their fabric choices would uniquely shape their final quilt.

A Special Thank You

We extend a heartfelt thank you to Karen Walker for her time, talent, and dedication in creating a pattern exclusively for this event. Designing a Mystery Quilt for a multi-shop experience requires not only creativity, but also thoughtful planning to ensure each step is engaging, cohesive, and rewarding for participants.

Her contribution elevated this year’s Shop Hop, giving quilters a project that will continue to inspire long after the event itself has ended. It’s this kind of collaboration that strengthens and enriches the quilting community.

More Than an Event

While the fabrics, patterns, and prizes are always highlights, what truly stands out is the sense of community. The Shop Hop is more than a weekend—it’s an experience that brings people together through a shared passion for quilting.

From laughter shared over fabric selections to the excitement of entering prize drawings and discovering new techniques, every moment added to the overall energy of the event. It’s a reminder of how creativity connects us and how local quilt shops continue to play a vital role in fostering that connection.

Looking Ahead

As we wrap up this year’s Spring Central Oregon Shop Hop, we’re left with full project bags, inspired ideas, and lasting memories. Whether you completed the entire hop or visited just a few stops, your participation helped make this event a success.

Now, the next chapter begins—finishing your Mystery Quilt, sharing your progress, and celebrating the creativity that this event sparked.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, supported local quilt shops, and contributed to another incredible Shop Hop. We’re already looking forward to what next year will bring.
